OLSA Life Science event series will be held on 1st June, 2023, from 14:30 – 16:00 BST in Room K, Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford.
This event is particularly beneficial for early-career graduates seeking insights into potential careers in both academia and investment areas. Our panel will feature two guests from academia and two from the investment field, providing a balanced perspective on the diverse career paths available in life sciences. Two investment guests include Mr William Sun, the CEO of FIDEM Capital and Ms Xin Liu, the former partner at Eight Roads and Managing Director & Head, China Office at the Greater Pacific Capital. Two academic guests are Dr Ying-Jie Wang, the Chairman of OLSA and Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, and Dr Xiaodong Zhuang, Postdoctoral Researcher at Nuffield Department of Medicine, who recently received MRC fellowship from University College London.

OLSA Symposium 2023
OLSA Symposium 2023 was successfully held on February 27th, 2023, featuring three sessions on DNA Repair and Oncology, Infection and Immunity, and Big Data. The symposium provided a platform for leading scientists to share their expertise, while attendees networked and exchanged ideas. The event was well-attended, and participants from diverse backgrounds enjoyed the well-organised sessions with time for questions and discussions.

Career in Life Science Series
Career in Life Science: Insights from Entrepreneur in Cell Gene Therapy Industry was successfully held on Thursday, 16th March, 2023. The event was attended by individuals interested in start-up companies and entrepreneurship. Hao Zhang, the founder and CEO of the gene and cell therapy biotech Chimeris UK Ltd., shared his entrepreneurial experiences and offered insights into the life science industry. Shifan Liao, a Partner of Briar Capital, also joined the discussion and provided valuable perspectives on investment and entrepreneurship. The event provided a platform for attendees to network with entrepreneurs and investment partners, as well as share their ideas and receive professional feedback.
